Summary

The race on Friday was called off due the surprise Tropical Storm like conditions that came upon us. Off Soundings Sailors are as salty as they come so the majority of the fleet decided to sail over to Long Island anyway to hopefully get a race in on Saturday. The trip over was a blast. With NE winds on our hip starting out 20-25 kts. increasing to a steady 30 kts. When we got to the "Race" with just our reefed main we was 10-15 foot seas and had no problem getting the boat to hit 10 kts. It was a fun ride and we were in control the whole time.

Saturday we saw perfect conditions for our boat at 10-13 kts. out of the east. We had a nice Windward Leward course set up for us. At the start it was clear to us (and 4 other boats in different classes) that the right hand side of the course was favored. It was big time and we ended up winning our class without much of a problem even with a 20% penalty applied to our rating from our win in the Spring series. It also looks like we have one our division overall for Off Soundings in 2009. A great way to end the season!
